Pokémon GO: global events announced / detailed (Pokémon GO Fest Chicago, Safari Zones, more)

Yesterday, Niantic shared more details about the Pokémon GO Fest Chicago (announced a few weeks ago), and revealed that Europe was gonne getting its own major event.

Pokémon GO Fest Chicago

As you already know, the Pokémon GO Fest will take place on July 22nd in Chicago, and more precisely at the Grant Park. This event will be the stage of a global challenge, that will see Trainers unlock special rewards for all players worldwide.

There will be three Challenge Windows, where everyone (not just taking part in the Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago) will work together:

  • people at the Fest will be able to unlock perks for players all around the world by catching certain types of Pokémon (each type is tied to a different perk).
  • people NOT at the Fest will be able to catch as many Pokémon as possible during the Challenge Windows to extend the duration of the bonuses mentioned above. And if enough Pokémon are caught, then a mystery challenge will be unveiled at Grant Park. If that challenge is completed, it will unlock an “extra-special” bonus for all players.

Here’s a handy infographic that summarises the event:

Pokémon GO Safari Zone Events in Europe

We knew that special events were coming to Europe, at select Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers, but we finally have more details! Those events will be Pokémon Safari Zone, and they will allow players to find and catch Pokémon that are usually not available in Europe. If you want to complete your Pokédex, this is the perfect opportunity for you to do so!

But that’s not all: there will also be unique and really powerful Raid Bosses to tackle during those events.

Here’s when each event will take place:
