Nintendo Switch: the Nintendo eShop *finally* gets a “Games on Sale” section

Today, Nintendo updated the Nintendo eShop of the Nintendo Switch, and finally added a highly anticipated and much needed feature… a “Games on Sale” section. It works just like it did on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS: it lists all the games that are currently on sale, on Nintendo Switch, along with their sale price. You can access it from the navigation bar, on the left side of the screen.

Unfortunately, the list doesn’t indicate when the sales end (you have to check that on the game pages), and it doesn’t look like the games are listed in alphabetical order either. Indeed, the games are listed chronologically, starting with the most recent (regardless of when the sale began or ends), without a way for users to sort through the results.

While not perfect, this new feature is pretty welcome and was much needed. There are not too many sales at the moment (only 3 in Europe, two in North America, and… none in Japan), so the lack of sorting option isn’t too much of an issue at least… for now. As we head into the holiday period and 2018, more and more games are bound to get a sale, and so, being able to easily find them is a big plus.

Several games have already gone on sale, but since they were released several months prior to that first sale (and with the number of new releases each week steadily increasing), they didn’t show up on the landing page. And so, it was nearly impossible to find out they were on sale on the Nintendo eShop, you had to search for it manually (which implied you already knew about the sale).

As usual, you can find the complete list of games currently on sale on the Nintendo eShop in all regions (Nintendo Switch only for Japan) on this page!
