Today’s Nintendo news: Nintendo to host a Splatoon 2 tournament at E3 2017, but also…
- Super Mario Odyssey
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Fighter Kirby @ First 4 Figures
Splatoon 2
Today, Nintendo announced that they would host a Splatoon 2 tournament at E3 2017. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all we know about that “pre-release, exhibition tournament”, as more details will be shared “soon”.

Super Mario Odyssey
As pointed out by Santendo (thanks for the heads up!), the trailer for Super Mario Odyssey has now been watched more than 20 million times, making it the second most popular video on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel.
It may seem surprising that the trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn’t nearly as popular, but that’s because there’s been several of them following E3 2016. Meanwhile, there hasn’t been a new trailer for Super Mario Odyssey since its reveal in January, and there most definitely won’t be any other until E3 2017!
Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) comes out later this year, worldwide.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
During the development of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the developers created a working prototype of the game in 2D (as explained during the panel at the Game Developers Conference in March). This inspired a fan to create an actual game, called Zelda: Breath of the NES. You can check out some screenshots and a trailer below, and you will find a demo at the source link!
Speaking of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, キヨミズ (a famous Japanese cosplayer) created a remote bomb to be used as a cosplay accessory. It certainly looks like the real deal, to the point where you would start wondering if it’s not going to explode any second now…
Here’s some pictures of the accessory:
