A few months ago, Nintendo released an app called Collectible Badge Center in Japan: it’s a Free 2 Play game where you can win badges, Themes, and other elements to decorate the Home Menu of your Nintendo 3DS. And a few minutes ago, Nintendo announced that the game would come out on Friday in Europe, with a new name: Nintendo Badge Arcade.

Nintendo Badge ArcadeThe game itself remains the same: you can try your luck at the crane machine (or other “similar classic amusements”) in order to collect badges based on various Nintendo franchises (Mario, Mario Kart, Splatoon, etc.) Some of those badges can actually be used to replace system icons, such as folders, the Nintendo eShop icon, and more. Once you’ve decorated your Home Menu, you can go show it off on Miiverse (which is also a great place to find inspiration).

To play, you need to pay £0.90 / 1€ for 5 tries. Every day, you also get 5 free tries on a practice machine, but you can only get dummy badges there. However, if you’re good enough you can actually win tries for the real thing. Just like in Japan, Nintendo plans to regularly adds new badges to Nintendo Badge Arcade.

Here’s a trailer for Nintendo Badge Arcade:

Head after the break for pictures of the various badges!

Nintendo Badge Arcade (3DS eShop) will be released this Friday in Europe. Unfortunately, we don’t know if/when it will be released in North America… Also, we don’t know when the White New Nintendo 3DS XL will be launched in Europe, but it’s certainly not a coincidence that Nintendo is featuring it in that trailer!
