[N-Direct] Kirby Star Allies: details, footage, screenshots

During last week’s Nintendo Direct, we finally got a better look at the brand new Kirby game, that was announced for the Nintendo Switch back at E3 2017. That game is called Kirby Star Allies, and its focus is on those very “Star Allies”. Unlike most other games in the series, Kirby isn’t doing his usual adventuring alone in this one.

Indeed, he can use the power of hearts to befriend enemies, and have them become his allies (he can have up to 3 allies at a time). Naturally, said allies can be controlled by other players when playing in local multiplayer! Since the game can be played with just one Joy-Con, you can have anyone join you at any time and anywhere, with just the console and the game!

But the most interesting aspect of the enemy allies is that they allow for combined abilities, not unlike Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (though obviously, it doesn’t quite work the same way). You can combine the various abilities in order to create some really powerful, useful, or simply “cool” abilities.

Fire sword? Check. Stone statue controlled via E.S.P.? Check. Water bombs? Check. We don’t quite know how many abilities there are in the game, but there’s bound to be a ton of combinations possible!

Here’s some footage from the Nintendo Direct presentation:
