If you’re a fan of (J)RPG, the Nintendo 3DS is definitely a console worth owning. Not only did it get tons of such games during its 6+ years lifespan, but… it’s not over, as there are still some more on the way (localisations of games already available in Japan for the most part). And The Alliance Alive, from publisher FuRyu, is one of them!

The Alliance Alive will be released in Early 2018 in Europe and North America, and will cost $39.99/€39.99/£29.99. Pre-orders are already open! By the way, this isn’t the first time Atlus is bringing a game by FuRyu to Europe and North America: they already did it for The Legend of Legacy, for example.

If you’ve never heard of The Alliance Alive before, here’s a few key people that worked on this game:

  • Yoshitaka Murayama (Writer)
  • Masataka Matsuura (Director, previously worked on The Legend of Legacy)
  • Kyoji Koizumi (Game Designer)
  • Masashi Hamauzu (Composer)

Here’s what the story is all about:

One thousand years ago, Daemons invaded the world of Humans. They subjugated Humanity and created the Great Barrier to separate the realms. The world was thrown into upheaval, and the Dark Current was born. It carved a cross-shaped swath across the ocean, swallowing countless cities in its wake. Humanity was decimated. Hundreds of years later, Daemons rule atop a hierarchical society. However, the time for resistance has come. The world is about to change yet again…

The Alliance Alive is a game that relies heavily on nostalgia (and is more than influenced by Bravely Default), and features a vast world to explore, intertwining story involving 9 main characters, but also strategic turn-based gameplay mechanics. For example, there’s the “Ignition” system, that allows for deep customisation and nuanced gameplay. In order to defeat the Daemons, you will need to establish and unite guilds through the four realms of the world.

More details about the game will be available soon, but in the mean time, here’s the debut trailer and some screenshots:

The Alliance Alive (3DS) comes out in Early 2018 in Europe and North America. It’s been added to the Upcoming Games page!
