Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross): more details about the Alchemy Style, Deviant monsters, more

This week, Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) will be featured in Famitsu magazine, with a 10-page article detailing the Alchemy Style (one of the two new Hunting Styles), some new Deviant monsters, and more. Thanks to the usual leaks, we can get some of those details before the magazine is even out (on Thursday, Japan-time).

Famitsu reveals that the Alchemy Style is rather unusual, and that its main focus is on Support. It allows you to create some items using alchemy, thanks to special barrels called “Mystery Alchemic Barrel” (you can have up to 5 slots).

You absolutely need those special barrels to use alchemy, but they’re not found in the Item Bag like usual items. You also need to fill up your Alchemy Gauge, though you can have up to 5 of them at once (one for each slot, most likely).

Here’s a list of items you can create using alchemy:

  • Alchemy Food: increases maximum amount of stamina. Unlike other types of food, alchemy food has a shorter cooldown period;
  • Alchemy Style Whetstone: can be used on your weapon to recover some of its sharpness, and allows you to fill up your Arts Gauge faster for a limited period of time;
  • Alchemy Style Bullet: a special bullet for a Bow Gun weapon. Allows you to quickly fill up the Art Gauge when it hits monsters;
  • Alchemy Bottle: a bottle containing special coating for your arrows. Allows you to quickly fill up the Art Gauge when it hits monsters;
  • Alchemy Immunizer: allows you to gradually recover your health for a limited period of time. Unlike other types of food, has a shorter cooldown period;
  • Alchemy Sonic Bomb: emits a high frequency sound that small monsters and some large monsters cannot stand;
  • Alchemy Earplugs: a consummable item that protects you from a monster’s roar once;
  • Alchemy Fast-Acting Medicine: a special medicine that allows you to create items via alchemy faster;
  • Alchemy Bazooka: special explosives that use Mystery Alchemic Barrels;
  • Alchemy Battle Ball: fills up the Art Gauge of hunters near you by a certain amount;
  • Alchemy Healing Barrel: removes negative statuses and heal hunters near you.

Also, here’s some of the monsters getting a Deviant variant in Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross):

  • Diablos
  • Glavenus
  • Gammoth
  • Mizutsune
  • Astalos

Finally, the magazine reveals that the Congalala will be found in Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross).

Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) (3DS) comes out on March 18th in Japan.
