Monster Hunter Stories: major update releasing this Summer in Japan, trailer

During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, last month, Nintendo made a surprising announcement: Monster Hunter Stories is actually coming to Europe and North America, this Fall. And it looks like Capcom thought this localisation was a good opportunity to add more content to the game, as they announced a free update for this Summer in Japan.

This update will add some new content to the game, including brand new Otomon:

Teostra (originally from Monster Hunter 2)

  • Ride Actions: Magma Riding, and Roar
  • Kizuna Move: Catastrophe Zero (destroys everything in a sea of flames)

Kushala Daora (originally from Monster Hunter 2)

  • Ride Action: Flying
  • Kizuna Move: Ancient Storm (a storm that destroys and blows away everything)

Rajang (originally from Monster Hunter 2)

  • Ride Action: Rock Smash
  • Kizuna Move: Gigantic Meteor (the Rajang digs up rocks, before throwing them at opponents)

The update will also add new parts for the character editor (such as haircuts, eyes, mouths, etc.), new armour parts, and more, giving even more freedom to players when creating their character. The screenshots below that they will even be able to recreate the characters from the anime series, such as Lilia, Hyoro, Ayuria, and more. What’s more, players will be able to change the gender of their character, from the Box inside their (in-game) home.

There’s also another extra: a Barufaruku (from Monster Hunter XX) outfit for Navirou, for players with save data from Monster Hunter XX:

Finally, here’s some screenshots and a trailer for that update:

Monster Hunter Stories (3DS) comes out this Fall in Europe and North America. The free update will be released this Summer in Japan. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
