[Update] Minecraft: Wii U Edition – New Software update available (Patch 12)

A couple of weeks ago, Minecraft: Wii U Edition received another major update, adding the Tumble Mini Game, but also some new maps, new achievements for the Battle Mini Game, and more. And today, the game is getting another update, but this one should be a minor one since it was not announced beforehand.

Unfortunately, we don’t quite know what the update does, just that it’s available right now. 4J Studios hasn’t shared the usual patchnotes beforehand, which is something they only do for major updates (like the one mentioned above). As soon as we have them, we will make sure to either update this post, or write a new one. One thing’s guaranteed though: this update does bring its usual batch of bug fixes!

Here’s the official patchnotes for the update:

  • Remove vote-to-kick function in Mini Games. The host can kick players only in the Lobby.
  • Disable small, floating and oddly shaped skins in public Tumble games.
  • Fix for Battle mini game showdown playing Tumble mini game showdown sound.
  • Fixed a bug where last player to die in Tumble would get stuck respawning.
  • Fix for being able to unlock Hunger Pain achievement by killing yourself while starving.
  • Fix for crash if a client wins the match and then quits the game.

To download this new update (which is required for you to be able to use the online features of the game), you have two options:

  • let the Wii U do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated. You should have the latest version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition installed the next time you turn on your Wii U;
  • if not, you can launch Minecraft: Wii U Edition from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu!) in order to trigger the download manually.
