Update (October 6th): one more official account has been added in Japan, and the last one for now. Check out the list below!

Last week, Nintendo released a major update for Miitomo. While the changelog is always the same for all regions, there was one Japan-only change with this update: official accounts. It’s basically official accounts for famous people, that people can follow in order to check out their answers. As mentioned previously, you need to set your country to Japan to be able to follow them, and everything is in Japanese.

And today, the very first official accounts for Miitomo were launched in Japan. There’s 4 of them to begin with, and more will be added in the future. Here’s those that are available from today:

  • Takashi Yoshida (from Black Mayonnaise)
  • Yusuke Inoue (from NON STYLE)
  • Tsukasa Saitou (from Trendy Angel)
  • Ocarina (from Okazu Club)
  • Daisuke Miyagawa
  • Kazuko Kurosawa
  • Akira Ishida (from NON STYLE)
  • Nadal (from Corocoro Chiki Chiki Peppers)
  • Atsuhiro Tsuda (from Daian)
  • Ryota Yamasato (from Nankai Candies)
  • Tomochika
  • Daikichi (from Hakata Hanamaru ・ Daikichi)
  • Hakata Hanamaru (from Hakata Hanamaru ・ Daikichi)
  • Haruka Minowa (from Harisenbon)
  • Tetsuo (from Waraimeshi)
  • Kazutoyo Koyabu
  • Shigeo Takahashi (from Savannah)

Nintendo explains how those official accounts work. There’s three main points:

  • users are be able to check out 100 answers written by the actual people (not a PR person, or Nintendo themselves). Naturally, the answers will be added little by little, and there might be more than 100 answers in the end;
  • users can comment, but each account is be limited to one comment per answer. Naturally, all inappropriate comments will be deleted;
  • users will be to take Miifotos with the Mii of the official accounts, once they’ve been added as friends.

Finally, Nintendo explains how you can follow an official account (we can assume the procedure will be the same if/when official accounts are launched in English):

  • go to your Friend List and scroll down;
  • find the Official Accounts section (in blue);
  • click on Read more to see all the Official Accounts available;
  • click on the Mii you’re interested in, and follow them.

Here’s some screenshots:

Unfortunately, we don’t know if/when the Official Accounts will be launched outside Japan.
