Metroid: Samus Returns to get a Limited Edition in Europe (Legacy Edition)

On Tuesday, Nintendo had quite the surprise for Metroid fans:

  • Metroid Prime 4 is now in development for the Nintendo Switch, by a brand new “talented team”;
  • Metroid: Samus Returns, a reimagining of Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Nintendo 3DS, by MercurySteam and Nintendo.

Right after the latter was revealed, during the Nintendo Treehouse Live at E3 livestream, it was announced that the game would get a Limited Edition. In Europe, that Limited Edition includes:

  • the game
  • a soundtrack CD with the best tracks from the Metroid series (with 25 tracks)
  • reversible cover

For some reason, Nintendo did not make any announcement for Europe. And there’s a good reason for that: that Limited Edition will only be released in Japan and North America. Instead, Europe will get… a much better one!

The gamepage on the official website reveals that Metroid: Samus Returns will get a Limited Edition including the following:

  • physical copy of the game
  • a download code for Metroid II: Return of Samus on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console
  • a SteelBook
  • the same sound-select CD from the Japanese and North American Limited Edition (featuring 25 tracks from across the Metroid franchise)
  • a gold S pin badge
  • a Morph Ball 3D keyring
  • a 40-page artbook

Here’s what this Limited Edition, called “Legacy Edition”, looks like (picture courtesy of Nintenderos):

Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS) comes out on September 15th worldwide. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
