Nintendo Switch: Metroid Prime 4 and the new Pokémon in 2018?

Last week, Nintendo made two major announcements during its Nintendo Spotlight presentation: Metroid Prime 4 and a brand new mainline Pokémon game are both coming to the Nintendo Switch. The thing is… they were “only” announced, and we didn’t get any detail or pictures at all… not even a lone, generic logo in the case of Pokémon.

But could those two games be released next year? They certainly could, if what Charlie Scibetta from Nintendo of America (Corporate Communications Director) told VentureBeat is spot-on.

Here’s what that very Charlie Scibetta said about the 2018 line-up for the Nintendo Switch:

Just as you get through a game and you’re starting to put your head up, put the periscope out to see what else is out there, hopefully we’ll have something right there for you. We’ve announced a nice lineup through this year, and next year we have some big games coming with Metroid 4. 2018 will be around Metroid, Kirby, Yoshi, new Pokemon game has been announced. We feel good about the lineup for this year and beyond.

Do note that the wording for Pokémon is a bit strange, and it does look like he was simply mentioning the announcement (and not stating it would be a 2018 title). One thing’s for sure anyway: we’re most definitely not going to hear about both Metroid Prime 4 and that new Pokémon game for a long while…

Thanks Nirolak for the heads up!
