The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Trailer and details for The Champions’ Ballad, available now

Back in June, Nintendo released the first DLC Pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, called “The Master Trials”. While it did provide some pretty interesting content, the DLC Pack (most) players were waiting for the most was the second one, the Champions’ Ballad, as it provides additional story content.

And that very DLC Pack is now available! In order to get access to it, you need to have purchased the Expansion Pass (obviously), but also downloaded the latest Software update (Ver. 1.4.0). Make sure to check out this post for more details about that!

Wondering what’s in this second DLC Pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Well, let’s start with the following trailer:

This DLC Pack adds a brand new weapon with a rather ominous name: the One-Hit Obliterator. You also get to explore a brand new dungeon, and tackle a series of additional shrines. Once you’ve completed those tasks, you will unlock a very special means of transportation, that’s going to give a whole new meaning to the “Wild” in “Breath of the Wild”… the Master Cycle Zero. Yes, a full-fledged motorbike!

But that’s not all: Kass the Bard is on a quest to complete the missing verses of his teacher’s unfinished song, and thanks to his original compositions, you will get to know more about the four Champions and Princess Zelda herself.

Also, the DLC adds no less than 9 new treasure chests, containing some brand new pieces equipment (including some based on previous games in the Legend of Zelda series):

  • Island Lobster Shirt
  • Ravio’s Hood
  • Zant’s Helmet
  • Phantom Ganon Skull
  • Phantom Ganon Armor
  • Phantom Ganon Greaves
  • Royal Guard Cap
  • Royal Guard Uniform
  • Royal Guard Boots

Finally, there’s two more treasure chests for you to check out, including the Ancient Bridle and Ancient Saddle for your horse. The former increases the number of spurs your horse can use to speed up, while the latter allows you to hail it from far away.

Oh, one last thing: in order to access most of the content from this DLC (with the only exception being the items in treasure chests), you will need to have freed all 4 Divine Beasts. It’s a post-game-like DLC, after all!

Here’s some pictures for the additional content from the second DLC Pack, the Champions’ Ballad:

As mentioned above, The Champions’ Ballad DLC is available right now. If you’ve already purchased the Expansion Pass and downloaded the Ver. 1.4.0 update, you only have to launch the game and you’re good to go!

Finally, here’s an extra: a new Nintendo 3DS Theme for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, inspired by the Champions’ Ballad DLC (and featuring music from that DLC) is now available in Japan, where it costs 200 Yen. It should also be released today in Europe and North America!
