Inazuma Eleven Ares: more details from the latest interview

The next episode of the Inazuma Walker webshow will be livestreamed next week, but we won’t have to wait until then to get some more details about Inazuma Eleven Ares. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine features an interview with Akihiro Hino, who shared some details about the game (but nothing concrete, unfortunately).

First, he explained that this time around, they really wanted as many people as possible to play the game, which is why they decided to release it on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and mobile platforms. The game is skipping the Nintendo 3DS for a good reason: it’s not powerful enough to run it, which is why they went with the Nintendo Switch instead. As for mobile, they chose that platform to get on with the times.

Akihiro Hino didn’t go into specifics, but mentioned that there will be differences when it comes to game design between the console and mobile versions of the game. One of the goals for the development was to make players really feel that they’re playing a football game.

He also explained that Inazuma Eleven Ares was designed to also appeal to older fans, instead of simply children like the original two series (Inazuma Eleven and Inazuma Eleven GO).

We don’t know when Inazuma Eleven Ares will be released, but it’s already been confirmed the anime series will be first. After all, it’s slated for a Spring debut in Japan, and the game was announced for a Summer 2018 release during the latest Inazuma Walker episode.

Gameplay-wise, this interview does provide some minor details. First, it confirms that you will be able to scout players from team you’ve defeated. There will also be a gameplay system that’s not been found in any other Inazuma Eleven game, that involves players.

Akihiro Hino explained that everything in Inazuma Eleven Ares will be brand new: there’s nothing from the previous Inazuma Eleven games to be found in this one (NB: he’s talking about things like character models, gameplay, etc.. This isn’t a reboot with brand new characters). The game is also said to have a significant amount of content.

Finally, Akihiro Hino talked about how he thought Inazuma Eleven Ares could reach the same level of popularity as Yo-kai Watch (back when it was the hottest thing in Japan, as the series’ popularity has decreased significantly in the past few months). That’s quite the bold claim, as even when Inazuma Eleven was at the peak of its popularity, it was nowhere near what Yo-kai Watch achieved during its peak years.

Inazuma Eleven Ares (Switch) will be released this Summer in Japan.
