Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns + debut trailer, details, screens

Yesterday, we found out from Famitsu leaks that Marvelous was working on a Nintendo 3DS version of Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns (originally released on Nintendo DS), called Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns +. We assumed the game would be properly revealed on Thursday, on the same day the latest issue of Famitsu is released, but it looks like we will not have to wait until then.

Indeed, Marvelous just made an official announcement, sharing some details, some screenshots, and even a first trailer.

As mentioned yesterday, Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns + will be released on December 14th in Japan, and will cost 3 980 Yen + taxes (quite cheaper than the regular third-party Nintendo 3DS game).

Here’s the debut trailer:

As the title of the game implies, Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns + takes place in two different villages: Bluebell and Konohona. At the beginning, you have to chose in which one you want to live: the former is focused on animals, while the latter is focused on crops. In order to make your farm grow bigger, you will need to regularly visit both villages, no matter which one you end choosing.

Here’s additional details about both villages:

  • Bluebell: a village where many animals (cows, sheep, etc.), can be found. You can get various products from them, such as milk, eggs, cheese, and more. You can also get wool from sheep and alpaca.
  • Konohona: a village where various crops can be grown: radish, cabbage, lettuce, and more. As expected, the kind of crops that grow depends on the season.

By the way, Marvelous specifies that even if you choose to live in Bluebell, you will be able to grow crops. Alternatively, if you choose Konohona, you will also be able to raise animals. The choice at the beginning of the game isn’t an “all or nothing” one!

Besides the two villages, there’s also mountains for you to explore. You can go down the mountain path on a skateboard, use a zipline to cross gaps, pick up mushrooms, meet wild animals (watch out for that bear!), and more. Oh, don’t forget to bring some insect repellent!

Just like in most other Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons games, you can talk with the various villagers, and even offer them presents. Some of them are marriage candidates, and when you’ve become close enough, you can marry them and have children together.

But that’s not all: there’s also various events to take part in, such as festivals and contests: fashion, cooking, fishing, seasonal festivals… Life in Bluebell or Konohona is anything but boring!

Finally, we have StreetPass: it allows you to trade items with players you meet, who get delivered to your farm.
