GungHo working on a brand new IP for the Nintendo Switch

GungHo is one of the game companies that could be found on the initial list of developers, publisher, and partners working on the Nintendo Switch, back when it was revealed in October 2016. As July is drawing near, and the console has been available for over 3 months already, we still don’t know what GungHo is working on.

But at E3 2017, Kazuki Morishita (CEO of GungHo) shared a few tidbits in an interview with Destructoid. He explained that their Nintendo Switch game would be an action game, aimed at players of all ages, and with a lighter and comical tone. It will have both Single Player and Multiplayer components, though it’s not clear which one will be the most prominent.

That new game is a brand new IP, and is said to feature a unique gameplay style that “has not been seen before”. That’s why Kazuki Morishita said that it could not be compared to any other game on the market, at least not directly.

Quite interestingly, this mysterious Nintendo Switch game from GungHo did not start as a Nintendo Switch, but simply ended up as one. According to Kazuki Morishita, it’s been in development for about 4-5 years (though with most of those years spent protyping, we’re not talking of something stuck in development hell).

Unfortunately, we don’t know when GungHo will reveal that mysterious Nintendo Switch game of theirs… hopefully sometime this year!
