Today’s Nintendo eShop news (Round 2): Carcassonne announced for the Nintendo Switch, but also…

  • Lanota
  • Muddledash
  • DX Library

Carcassonne

Earlier this week, Asmodee Digital (the digital branch of the famous board games company) announced they would start publishing games on Nintendo Switch. Their first release is going to be Carcassonne (the digital version of the award-winning, tile-laying board game), releasing this Winter (2018) in Europe and North America.

Here’s what the game is all about:

Simple to pick up but challenging to master, Carcassonne presents players with endless opportunities for tactical play. Within minutes, players will find themselves in tough situations – determining where to put their last meeple, whether to use tiles to expand the city, or to hinder their opponent. Players place only one tile each round, and have the option to place one meeple on it. Each game develops differently, full of boundless possibilities, and the quick-fire nature of the game ensures that Carcassonne always runs at a brisk pace.

Don your best party hat and speed across an endless variety of levels, as you battle for possession of the present and race against your friends in a mad scramble to be the first to the party bearing gifts.

  • Get to the party – race against your friends in 4-player local multiplayer!
  • Dress to impress – express yourself by donning a range of delightful hats!
  • Squid Fights – kick, boop, slap and jump your way to be the king of the party!

DX Library

Earlier this week, MediaScape announced that DX Library was now available on Nintendo Switch. It’s middleware used by many doujin (indie) and homebrew games, first released in 2001. Thanks to it, porting games created using those tools to the Nintendo Switch will be easier, and it will also simplify the developments of games for that platform.

DX Library is now available free of charge to anyone who is already an approved developer on Nintendo Switch, and sign up with MediaScape. Developers who have not been approved by Nintendo can still get access to the tools and make games for the Nintendo Switch by signing a publishing contract with MediaScape.
