Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past video series: “Discover Classes”

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is the Nintendo 3DS remake of the PS1 classic. Released back in 2013 in Japan, it’s finally about to come out in Europe and North America: there’s now less than 2 months left to wait!

Today, Nintendo of America uploaded the third episode of their video series for Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. This one is all about classes (or vocations, as they’re called in this game), which is another of the central elements of many RPGs.

In Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, you have access to over 30 classes/vocations, which is more than any other Dragon Quest game to date. Those not only change the stats of your characters, they also give you access to new spells and abilities.

The video gives us three examples (Dragon Quest classics):

  • Martial Artist
  • Thief
  • Warrior

The best thing about vocations? The spells and abilities you learn are kept forever, even if you change class. And by leveling a vocation up, you can master it, and then gain access to some more powerful ones.

Also, Dragon Quest VII features some Monster vocations, that you get by defeating the right enemy, or opening the right treasure chest. Those give you access to even more spells and abilities, and allow you to travel the overworld in style (you’ll understand while watching the video!).

Here’s the third episode of Nintendo’s video series for Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, which is all about the vocations/classes:

The next episode will be about tactics.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (3DS) comes out on September 16th in Europe and North America.
