Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3: more details and first screenshots

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3Today, Square-Enix shared some additional details about Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 (nothing really new, unfortunately), but also the very first official screenshots. As mentioned a few days ago, the protagonist has lost his memory and will go on a journey to get it back. On his head is a very peculiar device called “Reactor”.

This device has various functions, and one of them allows you to scan monsters in order to get detailed information about them. Using it couldn’t be any more simple: when in the field, simply stand in front of a monster and touch the icon on the bottom right corner of the bottom screen. You will get the details instantly!

Details provided by the Reactor include:

  • Name and level
  • Items
  • Amount of XP and Gold you will get by defeating it
  • Skills
  • Rating (1 to 5 stars)

The protagonist is accompanied by a strange monster called Nochoura. It’s but one of the 500 monsters found in the game, a record for the series. The best thing? They will all be rideable, no matter their species or size. Some of them can even fly or swim, but even those who don’t will allow you to travel much faster than by simply walking. Some areas can only be reached by riding a monster.

Finally, we get some details about multiplayer. Square-Enix confirms that Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 will be playable via local wireless and the internet, with friends or complete strangers. One of the additions is a brand new “competition” mode, but unfortunately, we don’t have any details about that at the moment.

Since the game was originally teased during the final of a major tournament for Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Marvelous Mysterious Key, it’s not surprising that Square-Enix would add a special feature for competitive play.

Here’s the first official screenshots for Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3:
