Daily Briefs (Sept. 25, Round 2): Yooka-Laylee / Sonic Forces / Battle Chasers: Nightwar

Today’s Daily Briefs: development update for Yooka-Laylee on Nintendo Switch, but also…

  • Sonic Forces
  • Battle Chasers: Nightwar
  • Deemo
  • project Octopath Traveler
  • Monster Hunter XX

Yooka-Laylee

Today, Playtonic Games shared the latest progress update for the Nintendo Switch version of Yooka-Laylee, and unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will be ready soon. Development seems almost complete, but when the finish line was in sight, the team encountered some final technical hurdles, that forced them to wait for Unity 5.6 in order to fix them.

The problem is… Unity 5.6 brought its own share of issues, that Playtonic Games is currently trying to resolve with Unity. Obviously, this need to be done before the game can be sent to Nintendo for lotcheck. Once those issues are a thing of the past, they will finally be able to commit and share a launch date.

Sonic Forces

Here’s a making of video for Sonic Forces, focusing on the orchestral music:

Sonic Forces (Switch) comes out on November 7th in Europe and North America, and November 9th in Japan.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar

Last week, the developers of Battle Chasers: Nightwar announced that the Nintendo Switch version of the game was delayed to an unspecified date. Right now, they’re waiting for some updates to Unity (just like Playtonic Games, what a surprise…) before they can promise a new release date.

Here’s what the developers had to say about that:

As of now, the Switch version is delayed and we’re not quite sure till when. We’re waiting on some updates to Unity that we’ll need before we can comfortably promise a release date for the game. We know this is a hotly anticipated version of Nightwar, so we don’t take such delays lightly, but our #1 priority is making sure the version we release performs up to expected standards.

Once we have a reliable date we can promise, you’ll be the first to know. We don’t expect this delay to be significant, but it’s a bit of an unknown.

Deemo

Here’s a trailer and some screenshots for Deemo, releasing on the Nintendo eShop of the Nintendo Switch this week in Europe and North America!

Circle Ent. also announced that the game would get an update after launch, that will add button controls and some more tracks. Of course, that DLC will be free, just like the one for Voez!
