Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is already available on Nintendo Switch, but it’s still MIA on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It’s supposed to be released this month, but the clock is ticking and there’s still no sign of the expansion.

But good news for North American players: we finally have a release date for that region. Here’s when Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment (including the update) will be released:

  • Nintendo 3DS: April 25th
  • Wii U: April 21st

Unfortunately, we still have no word on the European release, but no doubt we will get an announcement in the upcoming days!

Making Platformer Games

Kynan Pearson is a developer who worked on games such as Halo 4/5, Metroid Prime 2/3, and Donkey Kong Country Returns. A few years ago, he published a blog post called Making Platformer Games, which is primarily aimed at (aspiring) game developers, but also make for a pretty interesting for anyone even remotely interested in game development.

The blog post goes over the required foundations for a good platformer, namely: Camera, Jumping, Running, and Collision. Kynan Pearson also shares some developments tips, and other useful info. Click here to check it out!
