Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp – Details on changes made to reduce server load

When Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was launched, it was pretty hard to play due to the many communication errors occuring all the time. Since then, the situation has since improved dramatically, though the errors still occur intermittently. Nintendo has been hard at work in order to provide a fix for those communication errors, and today, they shared details about two changes they made to reduce server load and help prevent them.

The first one is about the Log-in Bonuses. Usually, the new Log-in Bonus goes live when a new in-game day starts (at 10PM PT / 11PM PDT / 1AM ET / 2AM EDT / 6AM GMT / 7AM BST / 7AM CET / 8AM CEST / 3PM JST).

But now, the cutoff time for the Daily Log-in Bonus is going to be during the 10 minutes that follow the start of a new in-game day, so 10.10PM PT / 11.10PM PDT / 1.10AM ET / 2.10AM EDT / 6.10AM GMT / 7.10AM BST / 7.10AM CET / 8.10AM CEST / 3.10PM JST.

The second change is about the movement of animals on the map. Until now, they would move after approximately 3 hours have passed. But now, it will be after approximately 3 hours to 3h10 have passed. Nintendo specifies that the time until a particular animal moves will still be displayed on the map, but that time will now be updated regularly (though it may take a little while for changes to be reflected).

Besides those two changes, Nintendo is still searching for new ways to reduce server load, and help prevent the communication errors that have happened since launch.

By the way, a new Software update for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was released today. Check out this post for more details!
